Rain rain rain...
It rained here most of the day. But thats okay, I got more (a lot more!) of my Jacob's Ladder components done(see block below). And there is a waiting list for that quilt!!! I even got my order from Connecting Threads today, 3 spools of thread and 2 charm packs for my apple core quilt. I bought lime colored thread to quilt something, now I can't remember which quilt!!! I'm having a TOTAL brain lapse.
I really need to finish the quilt I'm working on for our local domestic violence shelter. The guild I belong to decided that every member is to make a quilt and matching pillow case for the DV shelter. A total of about 20 to 25 quilts. I'm about half way done with the quilting, but things happen. New projects get started, and the current project get pushed to the back burner. Gotta have it done by Christmas. I can do it, at least I think I can.
While out and about yesterday, I stopped at a local thrift store on the tip that they had a few sewing machines. You can NEVER have too many in my opinion. I struck out... Someone beat me to them. I'll try again tomorrow.
Tomorrow evening is our last quilt class, we'll learn how to add sashing to the 12 blocks we've made. Okay, so I've been quilting since roughly 2000, I think I know how to do that by now. But what the hell, my wife and I will go, maybe learn something, and get to see the other's blocks.
I doubt I'll do much quilting this weekend, as we're having a family get together at my parents. My uncle I haven't seen since my sister's funeral(2005) will be there. He's moving out west. Who knows when I'll see him again.

Well I've done it again. I've started yet another quilt without finishing one. Oh well, this one is a gift for my mother. I've decided that it's time she get one of my quilts. Here' s a little taste of what the blocks will look like. I've got 24 of these 18 inch blocks to make. I should have it done in no time.

Well, I finished my last class block.. Okay so I'm an over achiever and did 3. I was only given 1 to complete but my wife decided to set hers on point so she had 2 more to do. I've decided to take my 2 extra blocks an incorporate them into a couple of throw pillows. I'll post pics when I find my camera.

Road Trip!
Life presents challenges when you're a quilter in the armpit of Kansas. Our LQS's are at least 45 minutes away. But on occasion you'll find one IYOBY! Well okay it's 30 minutes away, tucked into a small town that if you sneeze, you'll miss it. I visited Aunt Sadie's quilt shop in Winchester Ks. today. It's a nice place, friendly staff and some great prices on some great fabric. I found a bolt of Bali Batik for $4 a yard, did I buy any? NO. I'm kicking myself now, but thats one of those purchases that I'd end up buying the bolt and my wife asking what I would use it for.. But I did manage to get some nice neutral tones for some as of yet to be determined projects. After all, your stash can never be too big right? I got to see their Gammill set up in action, and their prices are exactly the same as other long arm quilters. If you're ever in the Kansas City or Topeka area, a short side trip to Aunt Sadie's will be worth your time.

What have I gotten myself into?
So I've been quilting off and on since 2000. I've finished 7 quilts and have several others in various stages of completion. My wife and I decided to start a BOM club. It's not bad, it's just that the "LQS" is a 1 hour drive each way and you gotta be there by either 8:30 or 9:30 on a Saturday morning!! ARGH!!! You may think it's not that bad but I'm a night person... We get to bed by 3 am and up at that crack of oh noon on saturday.. But hey, where else will I be able to make an entire quilt top for $10? It would've been $5 but we didn't get up early enough last month.
But I must say my weekend was productive quilting wise, I finished the 2 BOM kits my quilting class block, and worked a little on what I call my psychotic episode quilt.
Enjoy the eye candy.

Yet another quilting blog
I'm a married man. And you guessed it, I'm a quilter. Thats right, I take perfectly fine fabric, slice and dice it and manipulate it into other patterns that at times drive me crazy! Why you ask? I love a challenge!! I'll be posting regular updates and photos as well. Enjoy your stay and pardon the mess that is my mind. I'm sarcastic, and somewhat funny.
